Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 16, 2026
1. Introduction
Square Berry LLC ("SquareBerry," "we," "us," or "our") operates the SquareBerry platform at squareberry.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.
By accessing or using SquareBerry, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (hashed; we never store plaintext passwords). If you subscribe to a paid plan (Starter, Pro, Business), we collect billing information through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or banking details on our servers.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use SquareBerry, including parcel searches, analyses generated, scout configurations, reports generated, and feature interactions. This data helps us improve the platform and enforce plan limits.
Technical Data
We automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited. We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and improve your experience.
Geolocation Data
If you use our map-based features, we may collect approximate geolocation data derived from your IP address or browser settings. We do not collect precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant permission.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide you the Service you subscribed to, including account management, billing, and delivering parcel analyses and reports.
- Legitimate interests: Improving the platform, preventing fraud, enforcing usage limits, and conducting aggregated analytics — where these interests do not override your fundamental rights.
- Legal obligation: Complying with applicable laws, tax reporting requirements, and responding to lawful government requests.
- Consent: Where required, we obtain your explicit consent before processing (e.g., optional marketing communications). You may withdraw consent at any time.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve SquareBerry's services
- Process subscriptions and payments across all plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Business)
- Enforce plan-specific usage limits (parcel searches, reports, scouts)
- Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts)
- Respond to your support requests and communicate service updates
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues
- Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the platform (never sold to third parties)
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not share your data with data brokers.
5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, and only as necessary to operate SquareBerry:
- Authentication & database: Supabase (user authentication, database hosting)
- Hosting & deployment: Vercel (application hosting and CDN)
- Payment processing: Stripe (subscription billing — Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant and handles all credit card data directly; card details never touch our servers)
- Mapping & geospatial: Mapbox (interactive maps and geocoding)
- Land data providers: Third-party parcel, zoning, and property data providers used to deliver land intelligence features
- Analytics: We may use analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns — never to track individual behavior for advertising
Each third-party provider is contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. We may also disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
SquareBerry uses the following types of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Functional cookies: Remember your preferences (e.g., map view settings, UI preferences).
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand aggregate usage patterns. These do not identify individual users for advertising purposes.
We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can configure your browser to refuse non-essential cookies, but some features of the platform may not function properly without them.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- All connections encrypted via TLS/HTTPS
- Passwords hashed using bcrypt (never stored in plaintext)
- Role-based access controls on backend APIs
- Stripe PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance for payment data
- Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) for database access
- Regular security reviews and dependency updates
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted or anonymized within 30 days of account deletion.
- Usage logs: Retained for up to 12 months for analytics and abuse prevention, then aggregated or deleted.
- Payment records: Retained as required by tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years for IRS compliance).
